the chinese cuckoo

The Chinese Cuckoo is a percussion instrument with a strong Chinese accent: a bunch of strings and springs suspended from a soundbox with the help of sand-filled buckets. It can be played by hitting the strings, the springs or the bucket handles with wooden/metallic sticks. The buckets could possibly be covered with drumskin to create a set of drums.
